On a beautiful June day in 2013, the three founders sat in a coffee shop wondering aloud why Shanghai, a global city with so many entertainment options, lacked both a batting cage and a place with food and fun under one roof. Nine months later, Cages was opened as China’s first full-service restaurant and batting cage combination. The subsequent attention and support from local patrons fueled growth and expansion into Cages’ current location in Jing’an Sports Center, which opened in September 2016.

From there, the awards started rolling in. Since 2017, Cages has been recognized as “Best Sports Bar” from numerous Shanghai publications, including City Weekend, That’s Shanghai, ShanghaiWOW, TimeOut Shanghai, and Bon App. Cages was also listed as one of “Shanghai’s 50 Best” Restaurants by ShanghaiWOW.

The team focuses on continual improvement in all areas—from its food and drink programs to its revolutionary game technology—always conceiving of and rolling out new looks for Shanghai nightlife. We’ll keep working to ensure there are delicious dining options, cold beers, pic-worthy cocktails and exciting games waiting for you every time you come to Cages.

Since its opening in 2014 at its original Jing'an location, CAGES introduced baseball batting to thousands of people across Shanghai. In 2016, CAGES outgrew its original space, moving to a 3,600 square meter venue at the Jing'an Sports & Fitness Center. Now, CAGES continues to grow — this time to Guangzhou, centrally located at the Pearl River Beer Museum, No.118 Muodiesha Street, Haizhu District, with nearly 3,000 square meters of space featuring both indoor areas and a rooftop terrace overlooking the Pearl River.
